THE ALDERMAN BUNCH
Outside of patient care, the Aldermans enjoy embracing both the quiet moments at home and the beauty of Lowcountry living with their three children. As a family, they love spending time on the water boating and fishing, gardening, cooking together, and caring for their miniature homestead.
Their version of a perfect day is a simple one, coming home in the evening to relax in the backyard while their kiddos play and fish, their golden "Cooper" runs and fetches, and their chickens roam freely as the sun sets on a perfect 70-degree Mt Pleasant evening!

Upon graduation, Dr. Tyler Alderman and his family relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where he began practicing as the sole provider for a large, corporate-owned dental office. Early in his career, he worked within a highly insurance-driven practice model that prioritized high patient volume and emphasized financial quotas and low overhead in order to remain profitable. While the experience provided valuable clinical exposure, the demands of this environment ultimately led to professional burnout and dissatisfaction.
In Dr. Alderman’s experience, corporate-based dentistry could limit the materials, supplies, and treatment options available to patients due to insurance reimbursement restrictions and cost constraints. He was frequently required to utilize in-house milling systems designed to prioritize speed and efficiency, rather than the long-term quality and craftsmanship he valued. On many days, he would see upwards of 30 patients, leaving little opportunity to build meaningful relationships or provide the personalized care he believed patients deserved.
Over time, he realized that this model of dentistry no longer aligned with his vision for himself or the profession. For Dr. Alderman, dentistry was never solely about procedures and production. It was about using his skills as a dentist and his genuine passion for people to care for others while supporting his family. He wanted to create an environment where trust, connection, and individualized care were at the forefront—especially in a profession where many patients already experience anxiety or skepticism surrounding dental treatment.
After years of practicing in a high-volume setting, Dr. Alderman, alongside his wife, Brooklyn, took a leap of faith and founded Mt. Pleasant Modern Dentistry. Together, they share the goal of redefining the dental experience within their community. Their vision was to create a practice centered on quality over quantity—one where patients could feel known, valued, and genuinely cared for while receiving modern, lasting, and comprehensive dental treatment in a comfortable, relationship-focused environment.
Today, Mt. Pleasant Modern Dentistry reflects that mission: delivering elevated dental care through a more personal, intentional, and meaningful approach for every patient who walks through the door.
