THE ALDERMAN BUNCH
Outside of patient care, the Aldermans enjoy embracing both the quiet moments at home and the beauty of Lowcountry living with their three children. As a family, they love spending time on the water boating and fishing, gardening, cooking together, and caring for their miniature homestead.
Their version of a perfect day is a simple one — coming home in the evening to relax in the backyard while their children play and fish, their dog runs and fetches nearby, and their chickens roam freely as the sun sets on a perfect 70-degree Charleston evening.

Upon graduation, Dr. Tyler Alderman and his family relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where he began practicing as the sole provider for a large dental office. Early in his career, he worked within an insurance-driven practice model that prioritized high patient volume in order to remain profitable. While the experience provided valuable clinical exposure, the demands of this environment eventually led to professional burnout and dissatisfaction.
Insurance-based dentistry often limited the materials, supplies, and treatment options available to patients due to reimbursement restrictions and cost constraints. Dr. Alderman was frequently required to utilize in-house milling systems designed for speed and efficiency rather than long-term quality and craftsmanship. On many days, he would see upwards of 30 patients, leaving little opportunity to build meaningful relationships or provide the personalized care he believed patients deserved.
Over time, he realized that this model of dentistry no longer aligned with his vision for the profession. Dentistry, for Dr. Alderman was never solely about procedures and production — it was about people. He desired to create an environment where trust, connection, and individualized care were at the forefront, especially in an industry where many patients experience anxiety and skepticism surrounding dental treatment.
After years of operating in a high-volume setting, Dr. Alderman took a leap of faith and founded Mt. Pleasant Modern Dentistry with the goal of redefining the patient experience. His vision was to create a practice centered on quality over quantity — one that allows patients to feel known, valued, and cared for while receiving modern, comprehensive dental treatment in a comfortable and relationship-focused environment.
Today, Mt. Pleasant Modern Dentistry reflects that mission: delivering elevated dental care with a more personal, intentional, and meaningful approach for every patient who walks through the door.
